My foray into the tech industry was anything but conventional. Though I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education (Mathematics), my academic journey introduced me to computing, multimedia tools, statistical software, and the Microsoft Office Suite—sparking an early interest in technology. Even before university, I had enrolled in a course to become an Information Technology Qualified Personnel (ITQP) at IPMC, though my university admission prevented me from completing it.
After national service, my passion for tech led me to attend every free ICT training and webinar I could find. At one such event organised by Mobile Web Ghana, I was introduced to web development using WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) software by Nana Amoah Bgee . I immersed myself in learning the tools, mastering domain management, and building websites for individuals and businesses. Still, I didn’t formalize my venture until a pivotal introduction changed everything.
The Birth of a Tech Venture
A university mate, Meshack Mantey, aware of my growing interest in ICT, introduced me to Bashiru Mohammed—a brilliant secondary school student then in Asankrangwa Senior High School who had developed software for his school. Recognizing Bashiru’s potential, Mr Mantey feared his talent might go untapped if he remained in his Home Town. Inspired, I invited Bashiru to Accra after he completed school, unsure of how things would unfold but determined to support him.
Bashiru’s curiosity, maturity, and technical prowess impressed me. To nurture his talent, I secured an office space, marking the official launch of my first tech business. We offered website development, social media marketing, desktop/mobile software solutions, and more, employing three others to keep operations running for half a decade.

Seeing an opportunity for Bashiru’s growth, I encouraged him to accept the offer, allowing him to establish his own path. Meanwhile, external challenges—such as our office being demolished for road construction—forced us to downsize. I continued serving existing clients but scaled back on aggressive customer acquisition.
The Rise of BYND TECHNOLOGY
By late 2024, persistent demand from satisfied clients reignited my vision. I assembled a talented, driven team and officially founded BYND TECHNOLOGY. Our mission? To empower 500 small and medium businesses (SMBs) with the digital tools they need to thrive—leveraging web development, social media marketing, and digital advertising to help them compete globally.
It’s incredibly rewarding to see how far we’ve come—and even more inspiring to witness Bashiru Mohammed’s success with his own company, Bashtech, now making waves in Ghana’s software development space.
This is just one chapter in my entrepreneurial journey—a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the power of nurturing talent. The best is yet to come
